The Long And Winding Path by JakobHansson The Long And Winding Path by JakobHansson
The Long And Winding Path.

Photoshop, Wacom Intuos, 2010

Original size 5400 x 7000 pixels.

This started out as a quick sketch, but the path got longer and longer and more and more twisted...
So 20 hours later I can conclude this was not exactly a speedpainting!
I guess you can spot the features of a face in there, if you really want to.

Well this piece is much "sharper" than your others.

Whether it be the colors, the edges, the contrast. Still the same color scheme as usual, but the nice lava touch gives it much more vibrance than your oher works.

Twisted paths or trees or houses, in short anything twisted seems to be a recurrent theme in your work, except in your selfportrait.

Colorwise and "edge" wise I must admit prefering this work to a lot of your other ones. It is much more crisp and vivd.

Cheers!

Thank you! I only started on digital painting last autumn (but painted many traditional paintings when I was a lot younger) so I am still trying to learn all the new stuff as I try to improve. I will keep in my mind to experiment a bit more with colours! I also mostly use brushes with a very soft edge, so I guess some of the soft focus comes from that. It is so easy to just fall back on your basic default techniques when you create art for yourself. Thanks for the honest critique, very much appreciated. See you around!

No problem for the critique.

Do you have pictures of your traditional paintings from when you were younger?

You should put them on line too. I'd like to see the evolution in your technique and visions.

And, if you consider yourself old, what am I?

Maybe to your surprise but I am actually older than you, physically at least.

Mentally.....It's another story....

Cheers!and see you later!

Hey!

All my older work can be seen on my homepage (under artwork). www.jakobhansson.com
I took a 10 year break from painting to focus on my IT studies, but recently found the joy to paint again!
I hope to combine computer game design with my painting skills for jobs in the future.
There is also some other media there: films, games and music I worked on.
Have fun with it!

Funny with age when you are online. I guess you do not look like your avatar in reality then :0)

I'll go and have a look someday soon.

Well I suppose the adage is true, it's like when you learn how to ride a bike, once you got the trick you never forget! Even 10 years later!

As for my poor avatar, it is the only piece of drawing that I ever did...In 2004, following a tutorial. Colored it with "Paint" from Windows, took me 12 hours pixel by pixel on the edges with a mouse!

So since I do not like using other people's work as my personnal avatar and that I do not wish to put my picture on line, (strange shyness about that), I did not have much choice in the matter.

I cannot but some writing as my avatar, it would be unreadable!

Cheers!
