A fantasy landscape bathed in the first morning light of the day.
Photoshop CS5, Wacom Intuos 4M Original Size: 14000 x 8000 pixels.
This painting took around 15 hours. I started out with a quick freestyle sketch, and then build up on the detail as I went along. My idea was to create a feeling of some old oil landscape painting, with a bit of fantasy twist.
I would have increased the contrast at the foreground, making the darker shadows darker still, because the same level of contrast throughout makes the picture look a bit flat.
Yes, I can see the bits in the background where you've reduced the contrast fairly significantly to signify distant mountains...so I know you understand what I'm talking about...I just would have increased the foreground contrast to make the stuff in front really pop.
Thanks for the constructive comment! I agree - its especially easier to see for me now that the image is a couple of months old. (Eyes are not tired anymore) I will keep your good point in mind :0)
I only say it because I've found the same problem in a lot of my own works, especially when looking back at them a couple of months (or a couple of years) later.
But still, it's a nice work. There's some good atmospheric potential in the piece.
Many thanks - I am considering going back and fix a few things - but as you know its always a bit of a chore to go back to something you thought was finished ;0) Take care!
