Shiny City by JakobHansson Shiny City by JakobHansson

A nice and shiny city from the future. In this city people are living in high buildings in dark and dreary apartments, but on top of the buildings the roofs are all kinds of awesome!

Edit: Fixed some of the perspective problems on the buildings.

Your city of the future make me think of an ant farm!

I also feel that social differences are even more immense than now.

You want some sun, be rich! Or else you live in endless shade with just tantalizing rays to give you hope that you can get outn of there.

And looking at your human forms it is almost as they fear the light, since most of them are going towards the shade or in buildings almost to escape a sun they don't understand anymore.

I feel solitude and sadness. Anger and a little hope.

Cheers!

Hey Thama! Once again thanks for your astute comments. Its funny - when I painted this I did not think of the people outside trying to avoid the sunlight, but I can see it clearly now after you pointed it out. When making a painting intuitively like i tend to do (at least some of the time), some themes appear unconsciously even though I spend many hours creating the environment. You have quite a gift for observation! Have a nice day :0)

Thank you!

I shall continue browsing your gallery.

I saw as well that you are, most of the time in the same palette of colours. Brown and blues. Draonnest is almost an oddity in your work.

You have short brush stokes that do a build up of layers, which makes me wonder what is underneath, and gives you your style. You also have a tendancy of bluring everything. Even your sharp lines, and there are many even if they curve, have a certain glow about them that gives your work a softness that contradicts your subjects.

You like twisted lines and complicated paths when you do landscapes, when you do portraits or peoples, you tend to round things more.

This is what I got from browsing through your gallery today. That is how I perceive your art.

I will continue in detail in the next comnig days.

Cheers!

Thama

Hey,
that's awesome...
Such details without beeing directly detailed - I like this style.
The resolution seems be crazy, to me. But I'm already fu**ed up by a resolution of 4961x3508 (DIN A3 at 300dpi) ;-)
Only point for criticism - the buildings aren't seem to be in the same perspective...
They are a bit sloping, but not in an corresponding angle...

Have a nice day

Thank you very much for the critique, much appreciated!
About the resolution: if the computer can run it, big is always better ;0)
And you are right about the perspective on the buildings. I will probably make a mockup in 3D next time to help create the perspective lines.
I haven't really painted a city like this before, but the next one is always better right?

Nice day to you too!
