Description

There is something really special about waterfalls. A sense of natural wonder, something strong, inevitable and ancient.
- And we don't have any of them in Denmark...so it is always a great experience when I finally get to see one.

This is so brilliantly designed. I'm honestly jealous of it's creativity. Kudos for you ;-D

Good use of contrast makes this scene striking and enchanting. The water of the main waterfall is textured perfectly, with just the right amount of highlights and shading to give the suggestion that these are raging, dangerous waters (as if the haunting corpse of a dragon didn't drive that point home enough!). The streams of water on the far wall (which appears to me like you were going for a cliff-face over there) on the other hand need some attention. The times I have seen water work it's way down a cliff-face like that, the coloring of the water is darker than the dry rock face, as opposed to your misty-white streams above.

Let's talk about the Dragon. I said it earlier, but I will say it again. SO GENIUS. It makes the whole picture interesting. What happened here? Was it felled in battle? Or maybe it so feverishly guarded it hoard that it's very bones won't rest? Or mayhaps it is the entrance to a guild of thieves, mercenaries, or dark cult? ^___^ I love it so much. If I had to make one artistic critique, it would be to make a wet-band at the base of the back-spikes, leaving the points dry. This will make them appear more nestled in the mist and streams of the waterfall (I think a layer with the multiply filter could easily create this effect).

I like the shapes of the rocks you have on the far side. They look so effortlessly natural. That said, I would liked to have seen a bit more (lighting) contrast in that area. As it is, it's just kind of a grey, kinda boring area, making it a little out of place from the beautiful contrast and colors in the other two thirds of the piece. I also would have liked to see some grassy patches over on the far side of the waterfall as well. I felt it would have made your central dragon-piece seem more surrounded and overgrown with grass and weeds on both sides. Even if you wanted to present the far side as a cliff-face, grass and ferns will grow and cling to the tiniest cracks and ledges they can afford. Some grass here and there would make the far side look less detached from the rest of the piece, put more emphasis on the dragon, and bring more eye flow to the piece (if done properly, but considering other pieces of yours that I've seen, I don't doubt your capacity to create composition).

All around, and excellent piece, and I am so tempted to use this in D&D campaign someday and take all credit for the idea as if it were my own <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";-)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="388" title=";-) (Wink)"/> j/k

I'd give you credit ^__^
